Belmedie Beach

Scotland was sick, was good to hook with everyone again! Thursday Rhys come up, we got a little sesh at the Dale, it was light winds, enough to get a good power hour on our twelve’s. Thursday night about 1pm we packed the van.  We set off late Friday morning, after a 10 hour road trip we got there; it was about 9pm as we stopped in Gordieland to see big man Gorilla to pick up my new 20m lines!

After our 10 hour road trip Glen told us that the wind was gonna blow on Saturday, so we had a chilled night an got some rest. On Friday we woke up, there wasn’t much wind, we got a light breeze.  My sponsor Tom from Kiteitright had brought the 10m Vegas 09 up to demo so we decided to have a little play on it; it was really powerful even in light winds! We all had a play around on it trying some beach handlepasses.

Friday night we just chilled around the vans catching up with everyone an their summer trips.  We woke up on sat an it was windy! I got some breakfast and walked up to the beach. We all got told the juniors, AMS, seniors an Ladies were going to run first, So i set my kites up an went for a little sail. Then after a couple of power sessions the comp kicked off about 4 ish.

First heat i took my 12m Vegas with 25m lines, had on OK heat, i don’t think i kited my best, i landed a back mobe, slim chance and a blind judge and crashed a shift 3 on the landing, this managed to put me through against Robin Snuggs.

This gave me a bye which put me through to the semis against Robin Snuggs and Sam Light, the current champion from BKSA round 3 at Hunstanton. This heat turned out to be quite hard as the wind decided to drop, I was a bit under powered on my 10m but s

till managed to get a good run going, landing a back mobe, slim chance, blind judge and hassel hoff, this gave me 2nd place to Sam putting me into the looses final.

In the looses final i was up against Ned Taylor and North West legend Martyn Hogg. I thought this was my best heat out of them all; i landed the most tricks i had done in the whole competition. I decided to take my 10m on 20m lines, this turned out to be sik, I was fully lit for the whole heat. I was chuffed, I went out an pulled my biggest front mobe of the day right off the lip, this gave me confidence, after that the moves started to roll up, I got a back mobe, slim, blind judge a big shifty three and just caught the wrong side of the bar on a LEN10 pass at the end, this ended up with a 2-1 decision giving me 6th place.

I didn’t kite my best, but it was cool to see everyone and catch up an get back into the competition scene, thanks to the BKSA and tony an everyone else taking photos!

See you all at Littlehampton!

Peace :-)
